Using your Internet Explorer Browser as your FTP Client

You can use Microsoft Internet Explorer as your FTP client to upload/download your website files. Often this procedure will work with other browsers as well. Keep in mind that

IE 6 Users:

1. Open a browser window
2. In the Address Bar type: "ftp://ftp.your_domain.com"
3. You will be presented with a username/password box.
4. Enter your FTP username and password.
5. Click on the appropriate directory or sub-directory.

IE 7 or IE 8 Users: In IE7 and IE8 FTP is actually handled by Windows Explerer.

1. Open a browser window
2. In the Address Bar type: "ftp://ftp.your_domain.com"
3. You will be presented with a username/password box.
4. Enter your FTP username and password.
5. Click on the Page Button in Internet Explorer and Choose "Open this Site in Windows Explorer".
6. Re-enter your FTP username and password.
7. Click on the appropriate directory or sub-directory.

Alternatively, to save a step, open Windows Explorer directly on your computer:

1. Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Windows Explorer
2. In the Address Bar type: "ftp://ftp.your_domain.com"
3. You will be presented with a username/password box.
4. Enter your FTP username and password.
5. Click on the appropriate directory or sub-directory.

NOTE: Most of your website files will be stored in the WWWROOT folder.

If you are unsuccessful, try a different browser or download an actual FTP client.
