Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (formally known as 'EPhost Push Email') is available as an optional add-on to your email account. Unlike the other synchronization methods, Microsoft ActiveSync uses direct push technology to sync email, calendars, and contacts to your EPhost Webmail Account. Once you have purchased and activated the Microsoft ActiveSync subscription your device will need to be configured. Please read the Microsoft ActiveSync Setup article BEFORE enabling on your device.
To set up your Windows Mobile device to access Exchange ActiveSync, follow these steps:
NOTE: The following is for the latest version of Microsoft ActiveSync and you must be using the SSL port options, found in EPhost Important IP Addresses KB.
- If you're setting up Windows Mail for the first time, when you open the client you'll see the option to "Add your email accounts". Otherwise, simply bring up the Mail settings, click on Accounts and Add an Account.
- As you're setting up an EAS account, click on the Outlook (Exchange, Office 365, Outlook.com) option.
- If you have auto-discovery set up, you can simply add in your full email address and password, then click Connect.
- If you don't have auto-discovery set up, click on the "Show more details" link
- With the details expanded, you will have the ability to add a bit more detail for the account:
- Email address - your full email address
- Server address - your mail server address (e.g., mail.ephost.com)
- Domain - your domain name (e.g., domain.com) OPTIONAL
- Username - your FULL email address
- Password - your email password
- Click Connect
It may take a few seconds but your account should come up and start syncing your mail, contacts and calendar. After everything syncs up, your Windows Mail client will work as will the People and Calendar apps that are native to Windows.
If the above was NOT successful, please try the following method before contacting support.
Alternate setup for your Windows Mobile device to access Exchange ActiveSync

- Click the Set up your device to sync with it link.
- Enter your email address.
- Uncheck the Attempt to detect Exchange Server Settings automatically checkbox.
- Click Next.
- Enter mail.ephost.com. NOTE: Do not include http:// when entering the server information.
- If your do not want to use mail.websitecontrols.com you will need to disable SSL. Select the This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection checkbox.
- Click Next.
- Complete the following required information:
- Username (without @domain-name.com)
- Password
- Domain name
- Click Next.
- The Windows Mobile device will display a list of collaboration items to sync with EPhost Push Email. Choose from the list and click Finish to initiate the first sync.
NOTE: if you are prompted to "delete items from your phone" when enabling contacts and calendars please only do so if you understand the ramifications. Your existing contacts and calendar items would need to be in your EPhost Webmail account ALREADY. Otherwise, do not delete your local contacts and calendar items. You may get a warning about "duplicates", but it is okay. To remove the duplicates you can simply remove the Microsoft ActiveSync Email Account and setup again. Many phones handle the duplicates well and it may in fact be ideal. See the "Microsoft ActiveSync Setup - Read First" article first.
Your Windows Mobile Device is now setup with EPhost Push Email.
